چکیده
Introduction The BSC infections increase mortality, complications, hospital stay and the costs. In our setting, BSC is one of the device-associated infections more common. The Alliance for Patient Safety, WHO, launched in 2004, the campaign for the prevention of infection associated to medical care though hand hygiene. The Working Group on Infectious Diseases of the Spanish Society of Intensive Care Medicine and Coronary Units (GTEI-SEMICYUC), developed the National Survey of Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (ENVIN) as a computerized record of the incidence of nosocomial infection for services or intensive care units (ICU). Were selected for monitoring those most serious and frequent nosocomial infections related to instrumentation, including ventilator-associated pneumonia , urinary tract infection associated with urethral catheterization and BSC

Impact of a national multimodal intervention to prevent catheter-related bloodstream infection in the ICU: the Spanish experience.
OBJECTIVE Prevention of catheter-related bloodstream infection is a basic objective to optimize patient safety in the ICU. Building on the early success of a patient safety unit-based comprehensive intervention (the Keystone ICU project in Michigan), the Bacteremia Zero project aimed to assess its effectiveness after contextual adaptation at large-scale implementation in Spanish ICUs. DESIGN ...
متن کاملRisk Factors for Occurrence and 30-Day Mortality for Carbapenem-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii Bacteremia in an Intensive Care Unit
To assess the risk factors for carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) bacteremia and for 30-day mortality in patients with CRAB bacteremia in the intensive care unit (ICU), we conducted a retrospective study in the ICU at Severance Hospital in Korea from January 2008 to December 2009. Patients who acquired CRAB bacteremia in the ICU were enrolled as the case group and patients whos...
متن کاملPrimary and secondary bacteremia caused by mdr bacteria in ICU patients
Methods For a 3 months period we have studied all cases of primary and secondary bacteremia occurred in patients hospitalized in ICU of KAT Hospital in Athens. The patients’ demographic data, the reason of admission, the day when bacteremia occurred, the cultured microbe and its resistance to antibiotics as well as the duration of patients’ hospitalization in ICU have been recorded. The statist...
متن کاملClinical characteristics, antimicrobial susceptibilities, and outcomes of patients with Chryseobacterium indologenes bacteremia in an intensive care unit.
Ten patients with intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired Chryseobacterium indologenes bacteremia between January 2004 and December 2008 were studied. The primary site of infection was unknown for 80% of the cases. The known primary sites of infection were empyema (10%) and catheter-related bacteremia (10%). Eight patients (80%) had polymicrobial bacteremia, spent more than 21 days in the ICU, a...
متن کاملRisk factors for multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii bacteremia in patients with colonization in the intensive care unit
BACKGROUND Epidemic outbreaks of multi-drug resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii (AB) in intensive care units (ICUs) are increasing. The incidence of MDR AB bacteremia, which develops as a result of colonization, is increasing through widespread dissemination of the pathogen, and further colonization. We sought to determine risk factors for MDR AB bacteremia in patients colonized with MDR AB...
